My best thinking comes when I’m not doing much.
What do I mean? Well, once your mind is ok to free-wheel, when it’s in a state of not having to think, then the best thoughts arrive. Sometimes this is when I’m in the shower. I can’t answer the phone, I can’t read much (other than the shampoo bottle that I’ve already read dozens of times), I can’t really do much at all other than the task at hand. And because it’s an automatic process now, having a shower doesn’t take much thought effort. I have essentially stopped.
So now I can allow those solutions to come flooding in. And they often do.
For the same reason I love to work in the garden, pulling weeds or hosing the veges. I have essentially stopped or slowed down the pace of my mind. It is free to wander . . . and crazy as it may seem it wanders into the solutions I’ve been searching for.
