Telemetry & routes notes
You have to get it right because lives depend on it. While it may be a lot of fun to be part of a large fundraising outback 4WD trek someone has to prepare the detailed instructions. The participants do not have maps and do not know which route they will be taking. They can only follow the route notes. The route notes are their bible.
After participating as an official on a few of these tours in outback QLD, NSW, SA and NT, I was asked to be involved in the planning and detailed route note creation for the 2007 Tour De Kangaroo into the Tasmanian Wilderness. This involved the use of some telemetry and the attention to detail required for an error-free set of instructions.
Versatile mind: must be my plastic/elastic mind that allows me to focus on the minuscule and simultaneously keep the bigger picture in mind that landed me this task.
Humour: sprinkled with a good dose of humour along the way and we ended up with route notes and other information packs that made the whole tour fun without losing a single vehicle!
